First of all, get your head out of the clouds. Dirty Girls are, “sassy and stylish ultra-light trail-running and hiking gaiters.” They’re basically a comfortable, stretchy, quick dry solution to keeping dirt and debris out of your trail runners. They come in all sizes and have many prints to choose from.

Dirty Girls have an extremely simple design and are easy to wear and wash. Simply put your socks on first. Slide the Dirty Girl on next and lace up your sneakers like normal. Then take the hook on the front of the gaiter and attach it to the laces of your sneakers. Finally stretch the back of the gaiter to the heal of your trail runners and attach with Velcro. I love bragging about Altra trail runners, so here’s just another perk: they already integrated a metal loop and Velcro into the design of the shoe to accommodate the use of gaiters! Pause for effect. Don’t worry though, Dirty Girls come with their own Velcro and instructions to attach a small square to the back of any shoe. I suggest reinforcing the Velcro with a bit of gorilla glue to ensure it doesn’t peel off the shoe mid-trek.

Dirty Girls are for men and women alike. They not only look super cool, but they keep you focused on your hike and not that tiny pebble that relentlessly finds its way back into your shoe. They even come in solid colors for those of you with no personality.
